Soju as it was meant to be. Honouring the traditional Jeungnyusik method, and, unlike modern neutral spirit based soju with artificial flavours added, which is worlds away from a “real” soju, our spirit is made with a variety of fermented Australian grains and our own hand made, in-house nuruk.
This is not the green bottle - which, believe it or not, is basically just flavoured vodka. Our traditional Soju is richly aromatic, with a smooth, full-bodied palate that speaks of a blend of tradition and innovation. It finishes clean, with a complex, fruity, and savoury, often pear-like sweetness that can only come from our locally hand made traditional Nuruk.
Like the rest of our Korean “Sool”, each batch of our soju is unique - just like wine. From rice based spirits, to sorghum, millet and even pine needle and native flavourings, we offer a multitude of experiences that allow our soju to step out of the mass produced green bottle bubble.
For this batch we honoured the traditional pine -needle fermentation infused route, adding a copious amount of pine needles to the batch and our N5 nuruk for a deep, savoury taste.
Enjoy this exceptional spirit neat, on the rocks, or as a premium base for a classic, flavourful cocktail.
Haechi (해태) - Soju
The Haechi is Korea's great guardian - part lion, part dragon, armoured in scales and crowned with a single horn. For centuries it has been stationed at Koreas palace gates and courthouses, placed where power lived - because power needs watching. It is said the Haechi can sense dishonesty in an instant, drawn toward the wrongdoer in a crowd by something older than any law.
But the Haechi's real purpose is protection - of the honest, the careful, and of those who do their work properly, and Seoul still carries it as its emblem. Here at Tano we present it on our Soju as a simple promise: an adherence to the traditions of clean distillation, with no shortcuts and nothing to hide.
