Trade Access Guide

Welcome. This is a plain-English walkthrough of how to apply for trade pricing with Tano Spirits, get approved, and start placing wholesale orders.


1. Who is this for?

Our Trade Programme is for licensed Australian hospitality venues - bars, restaurants, bottle shops, distributors, hotels, cafés, and events/catering businesses that want to stock Tano Spirits products or pour them by the glass.

To apply you will need:

  • An ABN (Australian Business Number, 11 digits)

  • A business email address (not a free Gmail/Hotmail address if you can help it)

  • Optionally, your liquor licence number and expiry date

  • Your business address

You do not need:

  • An existing Tano account (the application creates one for you)

  • Any paperwork attached - everything is filled in on the form


2. Apply for trade access

Step 1 - open the application form

Go to https://tanospirits.com/trade/apply.

You'll see two starting points:

  • Already have a Tano Spirits account? Log in first (top-right of the site), then return to /trade/apply. We'll attach the application to your existing login - no duplicate account.

  • New to Tano? You can fill in the form straight away. We'll create your login at the end using the email + password you choose on the form.

Step 2 - fill in the form

The form is one page. Fields marked * are required.

Business detailsRegistered business name, trading name if different, ABN, business type (bar / restaurant / bottle shop / distributor / hotel / café / events / other), rough monthly volume estimate.
Liquor licenceLicence number, state, expiry date. Leave blank if your business type doesn't need one (most hospo venues do).
Primary contactFull name, position, direct email, direct phone. This is who we'll reply to.
Business addressThe physical venue address. If you have more than one venue, use the main one - you can add others after approval.
Online presenceWebsite + Instagram handle. Helpful for us to confirm you're real and decide on a rep.
Create your account (new customers only)Email + password (min 8 characters). This is how you'll log in afterwards.

Step 3 - the ABN check

As you type your ABN, the form checks it against the Australian Business Register in the background. You'll see one of:

  • Green - ABN confirmed, shows your registered business name. Nothing more to do.

  • 🟡 Yellow - "ABN accepted - we'll check manually." Means the ABR lookup couldn't match it right now (API outage, or a newly registered ABN). We'll verify on our side during review.

  • 🔴 Red - ABN format or checksum wrong. Double-check the number on your ATO paperwork.

Step 4 - submit

Click Submit application. You'll see a success message straight away.

What happens next:

  • We review your application within 2 business days (usually much sooner).

  • We'll email the contact address you provided with the decision.

  • While it's in review, you'll see "Application in review" if you log in and go to /trade/apply again.


3. After approval

Once we approve you:

  1. You'll get an email confirming trade access is live.

  2. Log in at tanospirits.com with the email + password you provided.

  3. Head to your Account → Trade dashboard (link in top-right menu) for an overview of your access.

  4. Shop anywhere on the site - your trade pricing applies automatically to all Tano Spirits products. No discount code to remember.

What you get as a trade member

  • Default 20% discount on all Tano Spirits products (some products or volume tiers may attract a higher discount - see your dashboard for your current rate).

  • Early access to new releases and special drops before they go public.

  • Trade-only events - distillery tastings, blind masterclasses, new-batch previews.

  • Volume-based discount tiers on larger orders - extra % stacked on top of your base trade discount once the cart clears the bottle-count threshold. The cart shows "Add N more bottles to unlock …" nudges so you can see what's close.

  • Sample allocation - a quarterly quota of bottles you can request from the wholesale team for on-premises sampling. Your remaining quota + recent redemptions show up on the Trade tab of your account.

  • Venue listing - approved venues can appear on our public tanospirits.com/venues directory. Submit your details from the Trade tab and we'll publish after review.


4. Placing your first order

  1. Log in (top-right).

  2. Browse to Shop and pick your products.

  3. Add to cart - the trade price is applied at the line level. You'll see both the retail price (struck through) and your member price.

  4. Checkout as normal. Payment can be card or, for approved distributors, invoice terms (ask us - arranged case by case; not online yet).

What if I need something I can't see on the site?

Some SKUs are trade-only (bulk bags-in-box, kegs, pallet quantities) and aren't listed publicly. Email us at trade@tanospirits.com with what you're after and we'll quote you.

Returns and quality issues

Fault or breakage? Email trade@tanospirits.com with your order number and photos. We're a small distillery and we answer ourselves, usually within 24h.


5. Keeping your account current

A few things we ask you to keep up to date:

  • Liquor licence expiry - we'll email you 30 days before the date on file. Update it via Account → Trade dashboard.

  • Contact details - if your buyer changes, update the contact email in the trade dashboard so approval emails and pre-release announcements reach the right person.

  • Business address - if you move or open a second venue, let us know.


6. Common questions

How long does approval take? Usually same business day, always under 2 business days.

Can I apply before I've got my liquor licence? Yes - submit without the licence number and add it later once issued. Approval may sit in "needs info" until we've got the licence on file, but we'll stay in touch.

Can one login cover multiple venues? For now - yes, we treat the login as the business. If you run a group with separate purchasing per venue, just get in touch and we'll set up separate accounts with linked contacts.

Do trade prices apply to all Tano products, or only some? All Tano Spirits products on the site are trade-priced. Merch and collaborations may be excluded - the site will show you the applicable price.

Can I get samples? Yes - every approved trade member gets a quarterly sample allocation (default 2 bottles per quarter). See your Trade dashboard for your current quota.

Who do I contact if something goes wrong?trade@tanospirits.com - goes straight to our wholesale team. For urgent delivery issues, phone is faster - the number is on your order confirmation.
