About This Event
Melbourne, meet your new home for Japanese and Korean craft beverages! Tano Spirits is throwing open the roller door for our official grand opening, celebrating International Shochu & Awamori Day with an all-day party of live art, incredible food, retro games, and game-changing spirits.
We are also dropping two brand-new, limited-release spirits straight from the stills:
Tano Awamori: The first authentic awamori brewed and distilled from scratch outside Japan, made from 100% jasmine rice and black koji in a single-pot distillation.
Imocha: A limited-run celebration blend marrying Queensland sweet potato shochu with aromatic roasted green tea botanicals.
What's Happening All Day:
Live International Street Art: Live mural painting here at the distillery, by Japanese street artists BombG
Melbourne Laneway Art: back laneway paintups from some of Melbourne's best underground artists
Artist Bottle Signings: Meet our shochu label illustrator Tayla Broekman and get your limited launch bottles signed
Food by Izakaya Only: Japanese robata-grilled skewers and street eats served hot off the coals
Sound: Live DJs from DELIGHT Records
Live Music: travelling kimono singer RIN SAKURA playing live anime and citypop @kimono_rin_sakura
Retro Gaming Lounge: Super Nintendo (SNES) and vintage multiplayer consoles set up for battle.
Bar & Cellar Door: Shochu tasting paddles, Chu-Hai highballs, signature cocktails, and bottle retail to take home.
No bookings required. Grab your crew, head down to Beavers Road in Northcote, and come drink shochu the way it was meant to be enjoyed!
